"The first time I saw a jet, I shot it down..." Started out as a private and made flag rank with only a high school diploma, bronze star, DFC, Purple Heart, Silver Star, basically walked across Spain to escape capture, quite the career.

Chuck Yeager has strapped in for his last flight. Quite a life.

Fair winds and following seas. I got to see him fly an F-15 and punch through the sound barrier at the Edwards Air Show many years ago. What a legend.

Got any beemans?

Obligatory video:

Chuck Yeager's Daily Reports from the XS-1 flights. One of our instructors sent these out today and thought Id pass them along. Pretty fascinating stuff. He was definitely a titan of Aviation.

After reading the 9th powered flight report.....

back in March 2013, when I started working for the CAF on the B29, my first "det" was to KSDM. One of our first visitors just happened to be Gen. Robert Cardenas. Several hours later, Cessna Citation pulls up and Gen. Yeager hops out and makes a b line for the head. Someone from our crew spotted him. Happened to be walking up to the few folks talking with him, when someone said, " You just missed Robert Cardenes"
Yeager responded without skipping a beat said...." That MF'r dropped me slow!! " And walked back to the Citation without saying another word.
