Not at the Enterprise I want to work at...
Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster. Took the ASTB today and I feel a bit underwhelmed by my score. I studied for about a month and a half, not religiously or anything, and I got a score of 6/7/7/55. I'm debating retaking, but I know only the most recent score counts. I'm applying for SNA and haven't decided if I'm putting in for anything else. Suggestions?

That was my exact score and I'm starting IFS next week. If you and your OR believe the rest of your package is strong, I wouldn't retake it before submitting for SNA...especially if you are far enough from the age limit that you could potentially submit again.

NavyOffRec my GPA isn't stellar, 2.68 Bachelor's in Political Science. I'm only 24 so I've got a little time before the age cutoff. The plan is to get everything together for the Nov board and if I don't get selected I'll retake it before the next board.

That could hurt, every once and a while a person with a GPA like that does get picked up, but odds are not in your favor, if not picked up the next time retake the ASTB.

Hi All,

I just took the OAR today and scored a disappointing 49. I have an M.S. in Human Resource Development with a 3.9 GPA. I'm applying for Intel. Should I retake?

What is your Bachelor's in and the GPA, that factors in as well. The OAR isn't the key thing, it is the degree, GPA, and the "what else have you done" Intel is hard to get into, harder if you don't have a tech degree.

Unfortunately, there's no 'mulligan' on your GPA, but with your competitive present ASTB, I'd take NOR's advice above, and give it one shot before retaking the ASTB. If non-select, then retake the test and resubmit a package. If you retake the test now and happen to get lower scores, you're stuck with them, which will then make your selection a longshot.:(

It's your call!;)

My Bachelor's Degree is in Management Studies w/Psychology minor and was a 3.2. I'm also prior service AD Army and spent my 8 years in the Intelligence Field, so I have a very solid foundation of knowledge in the intelligence world. Additionally, all of my tours were in Joint Service Environments where I worked alongside Navy, Marine, Air Force, NSA and other agency type personnel. As always, thanks for you replies and support.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to make sure the rest of my package looks good. My letters of rec are going to be from a doctor of pharmacy I worked with, retired AF Lt Col, active duty AF Maj (former ROTC instructors), AF Lt active duty, and my current boss. And I'll be perusing the motivational statement pages here as well. Can't do anything about my GPA, just gotta rock everything else.

You didn't mention whether you're going to submit package now & retake ASTB later, or retake ASTB first & submit to a later board? Have you decided? Good luck either way!:)

Those aren't bad, but your GPA isn't competitive. I would say it's low competitive, but never let your head down. I got Pro Rec-Y SNA and SNFO with a 5/6/7 48 but I had a 3.3 gpa in Biology if that helps gauge anything for you. The rest of my package was excellent as stated by my OR. With that said I hope you have had plenty of leadership positions in the past and a good officer interview as well. I suggest your apply SNA and SNFO, but do what you want! Best of luck to you!!

If you were working along NSA types, were you doing more crypto type stuff? Thought about looking into IW as well?
