Evening all...First let me say, I promise I used the search button.

I do however still have a question for those already done with OCS.

Do they send ya to the, as they called it in boot, "confidence" chamber again? The gas chamber training.

Just curious and no the answer dont mean anything other than the fact that I just wanna know what I may have to look forward too.

:yuck_125:

Thanks. :)

A guy on my boat did, but I don't know if it was added as part of OCS in Newport, or if it was part of mini SWOS.

There is, I believe, still a requirement to attend NBC training prior to deployment, and that includes time in the "chamber." So while you won't do it during API, or OCS, etc, you probably will do it during shipboard firefighting / damage control / and NBC Training week. Of course we may have had an overzealous Training Officer...

which gas chamber?... I've had the pleasure of rooming with a few gas factories in college. I just hope the food is decent at OCS:eek:

Nope - not a requirement. Only time I've done it in my 18+ years was at boot camp.

It isn't, and there WILL be gas. Enjoy it. Nothing says lovin like give your unsuspecting sleeping buddy a dutch oven. Of course that will have to be in the later weeks when sleep isn't so scarce and you have time for a laugh. :icon_wink

Awesome info, thank you all.

And don't worry, I married the 'highest gas producing' man on the planet 13 years ago so those toxins don't really bother me no more.

No tear gas, though when I was a candio, I walked into a p-way while the indoc class was 'working out'. Man the stench was horrible.
