Contracting for OCS PLC

Had a quick question about contracting, I am a freshman at the University of North FL and am trying for an air contract with PLC. My gpa isnt that great, about a 2.8. Do the review boards take this into account that freshman havnt had that much time to do well as far as grades go? I am taking the ASTB tonight, studied most of the weekend. My PFT on the 1st attempt is a 263. I think i am going to take it again Wed. Im mainly concerned with the gpa, do you guys think its border line or there?

I got in with a 3.2 GPA and a PFT of 240 I am also prior service US Army and had good letters of recs. But a 2.8 in only one semester is not that bad. If not what until next fall to apply, First it gives you time to get grades up, and build your resume a little more. Also the first board of the year, Aug Sept time frame is usually the easiest. Less competition and it shows that you really want it by being at the first board of the new year.
I would apply now and if not apply later on and you should be fine:)

you should be good. You have a ok PFT score, better than most new contracts. Better than when i first contracted. I had a 3.1 gpa with a 235 pft. I got selected. Going to seniors this year. Ideally you'd want everything to be the best you could when you contracted but if you dont get selected atleast you still have the option of trying again next year.

So far you meet the GPA and PFT requirements. Give it a shot if you meet the others (i.e. ASVAB or SAT).

My SAT was a 1050. I actually just took the ASTB last night, i posted how that went in the ASTB section though.

Then (at least for the min requirements), give it [PLC Jrs] a shot! If you have the desire and/or the ability to lead, then this is the program for you!

I can't speak for your ASTB experience, hopefully you did well enough for that flight contract.

So what do you want to do?

Hopefully Pilot, but before i did research on Airwarriors thats all i wanted. After learning about the NFO community, even though i already hold PPL,and an IR i would jump hurdles if given the opportunity to be a NFO. I am actually going this thursday to NAS PCOLA to take a tour of NFO classes and go in the sim with the guys I PT with and my OSO, so im really excited about that. Honestly, it has been my dream to be a pilot but NFO would be a honor just as well.

Actually I was asking what are you going to do now that you meet the requirements for PLC. Are you going to put it off, or are you going to see if you can get a shot for this summer?

Absolutely take a shot at this summer! I think i will be contracted as ground though, as i wear glasses now, no stigmatism or anything wrong with them physically. Hopefully i will be able to upgrade to Air in the fall term, from hearing what every one else had to say about ground to air upgrades, and talking to my oso it shouldnt be a problem. I hope. But yes, OCS this summer is my goal.

I don't think you will have any problems. When I applied I was at 2.9 and a PFT score of 240 back in 2001. Don't sweat it too much because PLC tends of be much easier to contract though when compared to other programs.
