It is 6172 for 46's, 6173 for ****ters (53's) and 6174 for skids. You can get any job in the squadron and they will most likely allow you to become an AO, but you should be able to get one of those 3 guaranteed from a recruiter.

Tell your recruiter you want an "AG" Enlisted Aircrew contract. If you want to be a crew chief dont enlist under a maintainace contract (AF), you will have to finnish your enlistment before you can do a lat-move to crewchief. While Chiefs do alot of the same stuff mechanics do they consider them two totally seperate jobs for enlistment purposes. Be advised, an AG contract is near impossible to get, they go very fast whenever they get them. I enlisted in late July to ship out to boot camp next June and all AG contracts for June/July of 06 were gone. Oh yeah, dont let your recruiter talk you into going into a maintainance contract if you want to be a chief, they will say things like 'its practically the same thing', 'you will still get to do the same things' etc., if you really want to be a chief stick to your guns and hold out for the Aircrew contract. Someone has to get it right?
