Cross service fraternization?

Indeejordan

This is kind of a random thread but I was curious about officer - enlisted fraternization across services. Say a Marine Corps officer were seeing a woman enlisted in the Army National Guard before he were commissioned. Is this against the Marine Corps Fraternization policy? And just for sake of curiousity what if the enlisted woman became an officer? Any ideas?

Fraternization applies between services (Marines, Army) but usually not between components (Active/Reserve/Guard) because the latter two are not subject to the UCMJ except when actually performing military duties (unless they're full time).

It's been my understanding that relationships existing before one of the people joins are also not subject to the policy. I know a woman who went to OCS after marrying a MSGT, for example.

The Navy policy doesn't really address the Guard or Reserve though. Or am I missing something? That's interesting, I have never heard of it being ok for active duty to date reserve/guard before this thread. I googled it and found some websites talking about the Army but not the Navy. The gist of it was that the relationship could exist as long as the acquaintance is through the "civilian" side.

Yeah I have never heard of that either. I think it is really up to command interpretation even though there is a standard. I have seen some things where I was like man those people are gonna get hammered and nothing happened. I have also seen some things that I thought were no big deal, and whole chain of commands got fired.

Sidenote, the Airmen in the picture lost a stripe for that photo.

Relationship already exists and your not in eachothers chains of command, all in the clear just dont do anything stupid. But keep in mind frat doesnt just exist between O to E sides of the question, an NCO for instance has to maintain proffesional distance between themselves and E's of differing grades.

^^ Don't fret. I'm sure she's sporting a gut and a pair of thunder thighs in there somewhere.

While the fact that the chick in the picture probably has thunder thighs may be true, the AF is still lucky to have some pretty hot girls. A couple girls I know that would be considered attractive regardless of military service are in AFROTC. Interestingly enough the AF has the most relaxed frat policy and the hottest chicks. Seems to be a good combo.

She lost a stripe? She's practicing good safety procedures by wearing a glow belt.
