Well, the word is in. I have been denied SNA, selected SUPPLY, and denied NFO. In case you are all wondering, I shall be changing my avatar to a desk shortly. Here are my stats:

Member of the national collegiate dean's list

300+ hrs community service and other kinds of volunteer work noted on app
2 years editor-in-chief for community colleges newspaper
3 yrs high school NJROTC
400 simulator flight hours (my recruiter thought i should put this on my app, but I don't know if it should been.)

Don't know if im gonna jump on some money now or reapply. Considering im taking really hard classes this semester, i might jump on it.

I would apply again if you really want to fly. I noticed you omitted your ASTB scores from your stats, maybe scoring higher would give you a better package. Taking the money now is a steep price to pay to do something you might not enjoy (it looks like supply is your 3rd choice).

Changed it. Yeah I think i'm going retake it, but i only have one more shot at it. Have taken it twice already. I want to get a lot more information as to the life of a supply officer. This is a lot of frigging money.

Godspeed, I certainly understand the attraction for one service or another for people, nothing wrong with that. However, if you cant get SNA in the Navy, why not try the Marine Corps? It's common knowledge that we are short on pilots right now. Just a thought. Good Luck

Godspeed, I think your stats are pretty decent and would have worked had it not been for the fact that the Navy just doesn't need pilots right now. I got denied for SNA and NFO last week as well. From what my OSO told me, there were only 15 slots for SNA this fiscal year and only +/- 35 slots for NFO. Given the number of people applying, your odds were not all that great even with your application.

The only differences on mine were that I have 80 hrs of flight time, 4 years @ my job (i graduated in '02) and a SEAL recommendation.

My answer is to definitely try the aviation contract route through the Corps. d bossart says they need pilots right now and from I've heard he's right on.

If you really want Navy, keep applying until you get in, but if you just want to fly, Marine Corps aviators are pretty much doing the same missions (w/ a few exeptions).

Either way, good luck in the future!

my reaction to hearing that godspeed was rejected:

"hi dad, you wouldn't happen to know if our police precinct has an aerial unit would you?"

Yeah, that's about how I felt too. He even applied for 2007 slot, which is what I am going for. Besides GPA (lower) my stats are very similar to Godspeed's. Oh well, going to apply anyway. Maybe things will change in the next eight monthsm, who knows.

maybe i should do what nate did and call millington up. i think i could sweet talk some secretaries into changing the status of my app from, "haha are you serious?" to "the navy wants to hump you".... no?.... ok :icon_tong

Well, I would definitely still I apply if I were you, regardless of any differences in stats. I talked with my old NJROTC instructor (CDR USN ret orion pilot and squadron commander) about my denial. He said it is ALL timing and numbers. One week they could be giving out loads of SNA slots and the next they could only be giving out a couple.

I might re-apply. This will solely be determined by my grades this semester. If my gpa goes any lower than a 3.1, I can kiss SNA goodbye until I get it back up. It is difficult to pull A's in thermodynamics, fluids, electro physics, and differential equations.

Regardless, the best of luck to all of you applying for SNA and NFO.

Definately re-apply. I got denied the first time but I think the boards like to see people who are willing to not give up.

reapply! i got denied BDCP but got accepted with a direct ocs slot after i finished college. and i know how hard physics is. i graduated with a 2.8 gpa and am DAMN proud of it. in my opinion, getting a physics degree with a 2.8 is 10x harder than a 3.8 history degree. sorry if i offended anyone. reapply.
