Dental Problem at OCS

I just started having problems with a tooth, and found out that I need a root canal. I want to get it fixed before I leave for OCS in a week. However, I won't be able to get a permanent crown before I leave. I'm alittle concerned about heading to OCS with a temporary crown on because they have been known to come off. Doesn anyone know if there is any way to get it glued back on while at OCS if it would come loose. I may be worrying about nothing, but I don't know if there is a dentist at OCS or not. If anyone has any information that might help, I would really appreciate it!!

NASP offers a complete range of medical and dental services. Whatever happens, they'll be able to handle it.

I would call your recruiter ASAP. I'm not sure you'll be able to go in to OCS that soon after something like that. If they can, they'll just take you and use base dental as needed. Otherwise, they'll delay your orders and have you go into a later class. Trust me, it would be much, MUCH better to delay entering OCS for a few weeks than to get there and have them put you on med hold immediately.

Good advice, but that said, it's not as though OCS is filled with any extraordinary chewing tasks or anything. ;)

Very true, but I have 4 words for you:

Jumping Jacks, Loose Filling:eek:

Actually, the main problem is that your first week there you go get a physical (including dental). If the Docs don't like something they see, you'll get sent into "H" Company (formerly GTX) while they figure out what to do with you. At least, that used to be the case.

How urgent is it that you have the root canal right now? We had about 10 or 12 candidates that had root canals and wisdom teeth surgery during the Candio portion.

Yeah, I was one of the people who had wisdom teeth out...it sucked, but at least I didn't have to postpone my date or be held out of class...unless it is emergency stuff, they will wait until you are a Candi-O.

Dental problems could be severe and could lead to physical and mental distress if not treated on time. So, it is always good to opt for good medical care clinic so as to be on safer side and have a good oral health.
