DFAS/My Pay Questions

Okay, first off let me say that I have searched all the forums for answers concerning my question, but it has been to no avail. Ok, so here goes:

I commissioned in January and was brought on Active Duty 22 January 2007 (PTAD for an OSO). I have provided all the "necessary" information to the Admin shop, but I still don't have a PIN for MyPay so I can't log on. When calling the help line they tell me to submit for a new PIN, but then I get a message that says my SSN isn't recognized. :icon_rage . Basically I'm getting a HUGE runaround by all parties involved. Has anybody had this experience? ie: getting their pay started (obviously yes, you all get paid, but how did you set it up). Sorry for being so long winded, but I've reached the end of my rope. Thanks.

Go to MarineOnLine and make sure all of your information is correct. You also need to make sure that your name and SSN match up. It took me forever to get my MyPay set up because my name is too long to fit in the system so they took off one of the letters. My OSO didn't tell me this until several months after the fact. So, go to MOL and make sure everything is good to go. Other than that, keep hounding your OSO about it. If he/she doesn't know the answer, they have people they can go to.

If you are saying you are at your OSO on Permissive TAD, that likely means that no additional pay or allowances are authorized. The OSO isn't capable of bringing you onto active duty, your initial command (TBS) must do so. The reason the system doesn't recognize you is because you have not been entered into MCTFS. Depending on what type of deal your OSO worked out with the monitors when you report to TBS they will most likely back-date your join date to 22 January and then your pay and allowances will catch up to you.

that may be true, but I'm looking at a copy of my orders and the subject line says, "Assignment to Active Duty." I've got an Active Duty ID, etc. I know at the least when I check into TBS I'll get my backpay, but right now $ is tight.

There is obviously an error with your SSN and your name matching up. As I said above, I had this exact problem. Work through your OSO, or, at the very least, find out who your OSO's contact person is for MyPay issues and contact them directly.

I had the same issue and eventually it resolved itself. I think it said it takes about 3 to 5 business days for the PIN to work. For me, it took a few weeks and it finally worked.

I am in the system but have no idea what my pin was. I sent a request to have my pin mailed to my home address about 4-5 weeks ago. Still havent gotten anything. I'm going to go down to the federal building this week and get it fixed up.

do you have orders for ptad already or do u only have the oso's ptad request letter? I didn't get my actual orders till a month into PTAD and that affected when I got paid and everything, this may also affect your being able to mess with mypay.
And you should get BAH II and BAS on PTAD. I am here (8th MCD).

I'm no expert but I don't think you need access to MyPay or MOL to get paid. Have you tried checking your bank account.... that's where the money goes. And, unless they've changed it, you should only get base pay while working for the OSO. That's all I got when I did it (8 years ago).

yeah, definitely havent received any money. you have to get into MyPay to set up your direct deposit according to the OSO im working for. and since he farmed me out to another command, i cant just walk into his office and clear this up. there's a big communication breakdown...

hmmm, my FAP money is setup to be direct deposit... I've been able to log into MyPay since... ummm... 2005

All I know is my OSO set it up/he had someone do it and my login was the last 5 of the social.

Contact MyPay, they have a phone number, but i dont know what it is. I recently dealt with them for a new password. I called them, sent a fax with attention to someone specific to their number, and within the week the password was reset to a default.

I've been working as an Assistant OSO on PTAD and I receive Base Pay (of course) and BAH where the station is located (I live in a different locale with a different BAH rate).

As for admin issues, I had some problems at first with MOL and incorrect information on my basic record, I contacted the Admin Chief/Clerks at my respective RS Station and they handled everything through a phone call and a fax machine.

If that doesn't work (getting your info correct updated) contact OPOA H&S BN in Quantico, they are the source for everything record wise (atleast from any problems I've had).

Gents,
First of all, thanks for all your input, it has helped me to resolve this frustrating situation. I finally got ahold of the Admin. Chief for the RS and they found the problem. They had me in the system as a PLC'r, but I'm actually an NROTC grad, etc. So, basically, things weren't matching up as far as MCTFS. Should be gettin' a fat check soon. Thanks men...
