Does PRT score influence BDCP final select?

I have searched through tons of past posts and have come across differing conclusions about PRT scores and what they mean for final selection.
I have seen posts of people that have been pro-recd and denied due to low PRT scores. Can anyone elaborate on this? Did these people even pass the test?
More specifically, I am curious as to if when I take the PRT test in a week or so, if getting a satisfactory, versus a good or an excellent, will influence me being final selected at all.
Can anyone fill me in? Thanks.

Honestly, it depends on your recruiter. The main reason I say this, is that if passing the PRT is a requirement to be accepted, why do people fail when they get to OCS? I never took the PRT from my recruiter. Once you're in BDCP, you're supposed to take it every 6 months, but I seriously think some recruiters fudge the numbers. We had one clown who rolled into our class for failing the PRT, and he was in BDCP. The sad part was that he failed the pushups (37 for males age 20-24). Some recruiters are good, some give away their slots away to PRT-inept people.

my mistake

Sorry guys, I meant PFT, not PRT. I get all my NAVY acronyms screwed up from time to time.

When you apply it really does matter, once your in BDCP it doesn't matter, just as long as pass. It tipped the balance to help me get in because the Navy's weight limit for my height was low considering my type of frame. When the board called back to my recruiter about my weight he was able to persuade them by looking at my PRT stats that weight wasn't going to be a problem. But I'm the exception there isn't very many people I would say in this forum that are my size. If I were you I get the absolute best score I could because they could be the defining edge between you and another candidate.

You must have at least a good low in all sections of the PRT. My application was held up because of that and for forgetting to initial something. They really check everything with your application for FINDOCS.

Actually, I only made probationary on my situps and still made it in, so the good low isn't an absolute requirement. However, my advice is to do the best that you can, because it can make a difference in selection.

Good gouge guys. Thanks for the input. I have tested myself, and I always end up between a good high to an excellent low. I hope that this will give me enough of an "edge." You guys think that is decent enough to be competitive?
