Hi guys, Im a college junior and will be attending PLC combined this summer with an air contract. What would happen if i get DQ'ed by my flight Physical and i cant attend Flight school? I know that im assigned a ground contract, but do i have any control on what i would do? my Backup is Infantry or Intel. Thanks guys!

Ground mos are assigned upon the completion of TBS. Based on your class standing will depend how high on your mos dream sheet you get. If youve already passed a flight physical to get an air contract you shouldnt fail the NAMI, it is exactly the same but your measurements are a little more official. If you are average height and had no issues the first time you will be golden.

The search feature on this site is pretty good so try that and I'm sure you will find some pretty in depth answers. The short version is you would be sent to where ever the Marine Corps needs you. You will put down your MOS choices at TBS regardless of contract and that's what will be looked at should you DQ. Also the reason that your TBS class standing makes a difference and should be paid attention to.

edit-->trongod beat me to it

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree slightly...while you should be fine if you had no major issues initially, there are still PLENTY of cases where people are NPQed at NAMI as opposed to earlier physicals...hence the "NAMI whammy" nickname.

Bottom line is that yes you will probably be fine, but you will never know until they've given you the A-OK. If you search this site you will find plenty of examples of people getting whammied.

The Navy NFO no; the Marine Corps, pretty much yes. The Prowler (to my knowledge) will be the last USMC aircraft requiring NFOs.

Those will be 'slowly' phased out (because again, to my knowledge, the USMC has no plans to buy the EA-18)

It has been mentioned on this forum as well that OSO's are not giving out/giving out as many NFO slots. In fact, while in Pensacola, they specifically asked the NFOs about switching to pilot (seems like they made it a fairly easy process). The only Marine NFO left in my class had to be one because of a medical issue.
