Dress Blues Don't Match?

I am commissioning here in about 3 weeks and I received my blues a little while ago and of course tried them on in my room (for anyone not familiar, pants = blue with red stripe and jacket= black). A female friend of mine saw them and said "blue doesnt match black. That uniform doesnt match." and proceeded to tear down my self esteem at my "1,000 dollar uniform that doesnt match". I calmly replied that this blue DOES look damn fine with black.

Now, this is new to me because I didn't know blue and black don't match, but I asked other lady friends and they said it was pretty universal that blue and black cannot be worn together. So my questions are;

1. Do blue and black match?
2. If they don't, do the dress blues not match?

And for the questions that may come... yes I think the uniform looks great, no I'm not thinking of giving up my commission because of the uniform, and no it's not a big deal to me... just curious.

Everyone leave, I have to poop. NOW!!!
You're a dude, right? THEN WHO THE HELL CARES??? If we wanted all of our uniforms to coordinate, then the DoD would hire those fags that you see on Bravo to design our uniforms.

To be honest, I saw a couple of Marines before their winging ceremony today, and their uniforms look damn sharp, blue on black and all...

It's a uniform. If they don't get it, leave them behind. They probably won't like the multi-colored ribbons either then. Perhaps they would like the 8th&I variation then (white trou). Lots of folks get married in that one (must be because the ladies prevail against the fashion faux pas of blue, red and black). Regardless, your lady friends aren't going to change the uniform regs and if your self esteem gets bruised by that, stand by for the Ready Room. Your whole life will be examined and your lady friends aren't even JV compared to that experience. Congrats anyway...enjoy the ride and ignore bumps in the road like that.

PS No mention of the bold red stripe with blue pants?

Black and blue has got to be one of God's favorite combinations...check out most every good bruise you've ever had....
On that note, you could use this as an opportunity to "educate" your girlfriend. It would be wrong, and I would not recommend this, but blackening both of her eyes and telling her to STFU could help both of you out. While she's unconscious, feel free to recover your balls from her purse.

I never thought the day would come where a Marine questions his uniform.

Anyway man, come on, it's the freakin' USMC uniform. Everyone likes it matching or not. Ladies dig it.

This has got to be the most ridiculous post I've ever seen. If I had more power on here, I'd lock it. Who gives two flying fvcks if blue doesn't match black? The dress blue uniform looks incredible, even if the ladies don't think it matches. If your "female friend" thinks it looks so bad, go out to a bar with her and see how many chicks pick you up. It happens.

Honestly, when I read the first post, I didn't know whether to laugh or vomit. I chose the latter.
