Always hate to see news like this. I flew with the Ecudorian Air Force in 1966 on a USAID contract doing photomapping with a Beech 80. They had gotten a pair of USAF Sikorsky 55's and after being trained on them, promptly crashed them both during a rescue SW of Guayaquil at sea level. I was tasked with overflying the crash site shortly after it happened to take pictures.
Apparently the latest episode involved worn or damaged cable on the hoist. No telling what caused the B-200 crash earlier. Regardless, I hate to see anyone get killed on a rescue.
