Enlisted Fleet Applicant Consideration

1. As a general rule, do the GPA/ASTB ranges discussed on these broads apply to fleet sailors as well as civilian applicants? Just wondering if Sailors receive any board consideration for demonstrated performance in high ASVAB score ratings (Nuc, CT, HM) and/or high security clearances. College GPA is not necessarily the best indicator of professional performance.

2. More specifically, is there some number or percentage of OCS quotas reserved or targeted for fleet sailors?

I'm not implying they should deserve special consideration, just wondering if it is policy to have some Sailors in each OCS class/designator?

Am retired O6, OCS grad 1981.

1. Yes. Boards don’t care about ASVAB scores.
2. No.

Fleet applicants' requirements are more lenient for package submission. Their required GPA is 2.0 instead of 2.8 and minimum OAR is 40 instead of 45 with the stipulation that the sailor must have received a most recent competitive EVAL of MP/EP and have an Individual Trait Average above their reporting senior's cumulative average. Despite this, competitive GPA/OAR scores are seen to be higher than the minimum requirement.

No one knows how the board members make thier picks. We all just study, hope, and pray.

That is a recent change, and it really isn't much of a change, basically they requirements became more strict, but they essentially left the requirements low for those that have good evals. The thing is they still have to compete against everyone with good grades.
