Enlisted Marine to pilot

I'm new to this board and found it through the use of google. I am an enlisted Marine, and I am starting my second enlistment. I was a machinegunner for my first four years. I am currently doing a latmove over to be an f/a-18 airframe mechanic. What I am wanting to eventually achieve is to become a Marine pilot. I am trying to get some information on how to achieve this goal. My old unit never talked about commissioning programs, especially programs that will take you out of the infantry, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am finally getting to take a few college courses, and I have earned my private pilot's license. Again, thank you for any advice you can give.

What's up man? I was an 0311 prior to going to college, so I am kind of in the same boat. I got out in 2004 and went to school, so I don't know much about commissioning programs. However, I do know that you need to get into one relatively quickly, because there is an age limit to become a pilot (I think 30 years old for prior enlisted). I'm 27 now and will have to get an age waiver.

Also, I don't know if you noticed, but there is a search function on this website. It will probably help you find more specific information on the commissioning programs. Good luck.

I would recommend checking the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP). If accepted you will eventually end up at an NROTC unit and attend OCS prior to the start of your sophomore year (your degree must be completed in 3 years). During that time, providing that you pass the ASTB and are medically qualified, you can probably get picked up for an air contract.

If you already have a degree you can probably put in an OCS package, but I am not sure how that route works.

MECEP.

Check out the order, ask if you have any questions. I just finished the program myself, and there are many others out there who have done it or are doing it.

Marine Corps Order P1560.15L

Edit: You need to hurry up and put your package together NOW if you want to do it for this year, the due date is coming up shortly.

Make a folder and print out a checklist from the order of all the documents you need to procure and staple it to the front. Check off the items as you put them in the folder. Try and find a buddy in admin or a motivated SNCO who can help you out.

Thank you, gentlemen. I really appreciate the advice. I have heard of the MECEP. I have to take my ACT again to get a higher score. I gaffed it off in high school since all I wanted was the grunts and some combat at the time. Can I submit a package even though I am currently waiting orders to go the new MOS schools?

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!
I know several MECEPs personally, let me know if you would like to get in contact with them.

I am still waiting for my report date. I have not received orders yet. I just reenlisted about a month ago.
