Great recommendation from CO (already saw the first part, it looked great. Still waiting on it! Next day or so. I should have package sent by next Friday)

1 letter of recommendation from VADM

Package is being endorsed by a Rear Admiral (NNSOC)

No financial problems of any kind
No NJP or anything (Never been counseled)

1 Supply Captain – All 10’s (Great write up) I liked this part especially “In my 25 years I have served with many officers. Few presented the positive motivation and maturity that would enable him to make the hard decisions necessary that Petty Officer Jensen displayed during the interview. In my opinion, his positive potential is unlimited.”

1 Intel Captain – All 10’s (Great write up)
2 SWO CDR’s – All 10’s (Great write ups)

I'd say you're looking pretty good. However, nobody here is gonna be able to give you a percentage number for what your chances are. There's just too much stiff competition out there.

Your right. Thanks for your input. I just know many of you have seen many get accepted and was curious on your input. Was wondering if my other stuff makes up for the 48 OAR.

Steve is right, nobody here can tell you any more than he already did. This forum has no bearing on your possibilities of selection. Your stats look good and you obviously don't have a problem tooting your own horn. If you can sell yourself in your interviews based on what you've told us here, I don't see why you would be a non-select a second time. Good luck.

I don't mean to toot my own horn...

But I was just curious to hear from those who have seen many people make it. One thing I've learned in the Navy is you learn from others experiences and sometime hearing from peoples experienced guesses helps out. Sorry if I sounded like I was tooting my horn.

My recruiter told me that he got a girl in not too long ago for Supply with a 38 OAR. Of course I had a 53 OAR and was non-select for Supply. Who really knows besides the selection board what they are looking for. Im sure its not just the OAR they care about so don't sweat it. In fact, I am not in a very good position to be telling anyone their chances but, I would still have to say that I think you will get in there.

No worries, dude. Just calling it like I see it. Like I said, your stats look good and good enough to brag about...to the right audience (ie. your package, your chain of command, and your interviewers). Having seen (and been) the type of Sailors you are competing against, you seem like a shoe-in. I was selected in the second generation STA program (pre- STA-21) when only 50 were selected and your package sounds better than many of my classmates. I will be surprised if you don't get it this year (despite the math and OAR), but if it doesn't happen, just keep trying...persistance and dedication also looks good.

I was just thought of something? Have you already completed your degree or are you still working on it? If complete, why are you applying for STA-21? Unless I am missing something here, shouldn't you be applying straight for OCS?

makana,

This is the OCS forum. It sounds like IT1 was just noting that he had previously applied to the STA-21 program, and that he is applying to OCS this time around.

IT1,

Good luck with the selection process and don't sweat the OAR...you have plenty of other good stuff to counter that.

Any idea about what kinds of background characteristics are prevelant to those who have made it and are going NFO with an enlisted background?

"Your right. Thanks for your input. I just know many of you have seen many get accepted and was curious on your input. Was wondering if my other stuff makes up for the 48 OAR."

That should be, "You're right." I know it's a nit, but brushing-up on grammar can't hurt. An O spends a lot of time writing reports.

Hope this helps.
