I was just accepted for a three year marine coprs scholarship and have already begun to work on getting in to flight school. I scored a 6/7 on my ASTB, 3.2 GPa in Mechanical Engineering and a 285 PFT. I feel like I am a good canidate but my mother was just told that she has epilepsy. I do not but i was wondering if this would disqualify me as there is a very small chance of me inheriting it. Once agian I do not have it and will most likely never have it but will i be disqualified from the marines or aviation because of family medical history reasons or do I have to have it before they will DQ me. Please help. I just found out today I got the scholarship and today that she has epilepsy. Please help this is driving me crazy.

My Dad has epilepsy, I listed it in my family medical history, and no one ever brought it up.

One thing to keep in mind, is how did she develop it, out of the blue, other family members having it, prior substance abuse....

I wouldn't worry.

You're entering a world of pain
As far as anything in aviation goes, i've always heard claim ignorance. If they can't find it, it isn't there.

Remember to still tell the truth no matter what. However, don't volounteer information unless they specifically ask for it.

Have you ever had a seizure?
