This is really a stupid "what if" question, but I'm gonna throw it anyway.
What if...the RAF/USN had collaborated on the Eurofighter project instead of the other nations. Of course, then you'd probably have to call it he Anglofighter.
I was just thinking...the requirements, other than carrier takeoff capability, seem pretty similar(compared to F/A-18EF). Both sides wanted a multi-role, larger VALUE mid-size fighter that could knock the crap out of anything EXCEPT the F-22 in air to air.
And wouldn't having a buy from both the USN and RAF drive down production costs?
Of course, the problem is the assumption that they could've made if suitable for carrier ops without significant costs in money and performance.
