Guys & Girls,

I just found out I was denied for an age waiver, so all I really have left is INTEL. This news is not bad in and of itself as I am prior army intel, but the problem I have is below:

My recruiter has stressed to me that I need some senior level intel interviews, O-5 or above preferably, but neither him nor I have any Intel Officer contacts...

If you are an Intel Officer, know one, or even know one who knows one, would you please let me know? I need to meet someone in the near future who would be willing to do a face-to-face or a phone interview.

I would really appreciate any help you might provide!!

Thanks everyone!

Burton,

Man, it has been rough for you! I will ask around in my community, but I doubt aviation peeps will know many intel guys. Persistance pays off my friend. Stick with it!

Ha, this is the story of my life my friend... If not for bad luck I wouldn't have any at all :)

Anyway, it will all work out eventually, I will just probably have to contact that SecNav at this point.... Ha, wouldn't that be funny.

Part of the problem is that you are on the wrong coast, and I presume you would have to meet up with them before they would give you a recommendation. What exactly are you looking for?

Your recruiter should be able to find a phone number for the closest intel shop, Reserve or Active, and one of those Intel Os should be able to interview you. Don't think you have to know someone personally. When I did my interview, I went down to the local Reserve Station and talked with the intel Officer there....

My recruiter said that he doesn't really know any Intel guys... The few he is aware of are deployed right now. He said he will keep looking, but suggested I contact you guys for some connections.

At this point, I would be willing to fly across country to interview with the right person, I just need to find a high ranking Navy Intel Officer.

Thanks for all the feedback and help guys... If anyone comes across an opportunity please let me know!

Hey man, I just got ahold of two of my buddies, and they are east coast guys. They suggested trying the Coast Guard station out there, since there might be some form of Intel staff guy lurking. Failing that, we can set up a phone interview with someone from VA.

If there is a base within driving distance (I'm an east coaster, I don't know that side very well) try it out and ask people. When I got my STA appraisal board, I didn't know anyone on the aviation side, so I knocked on doors and asked for a board. Fortunately, the boys at VAW-126 are awesome and took me right in (and let me sit in a Hawkeye and everything).

PM me if you need a phone interview.

If you are in Sacramento your best bet is probably down in Lemoore, though Fallon might be a more target rich enviroment since NSAWC is there. They are both within driving distance of you and I would think would provide you the best opportunities outside of San Diego and Hawaii on the West Coast for Intel officers.

Fallon has the advantage of having NSAWC and the N2 Department; at Lemoore, you'd only find the various squadron spies milling about, wondering about f-poles and trying to pull the "kick me" signs off their backs. See http://www.fallon.navy.mil/nsawc.asp for a quick overview. Since your recruiter thinks it is important, it is probably worth doing. Give the N2 (Intel Director) a call, explain who you are, state your case, and ask if you could possibly set up an interview "with the N2 or one of his department heads". Realize that you are asking him to do paperwork above and beyond what he already has in is inbox, so you may have to be persuasive. (Offer to buy lunch at the club...)
