Here is the situation. I just got winged and have received orders. I will be going to SERE in San Diego on 24 Feb, the C-130 ATU at Cherry Point on 31 Mar, and will finally end up at Miramar during the summer. Admin said that they will pay to move my family (wife and three kids) to San Diego as I leave to check into SERE. However due to the PCS with Temins, I will be getting BAH 2, which is just under 1000, hardly enough to get a home for my family in San Diego. I believe the rationalization is that I will be provided a room while at Cherry Point. So my question finally, is there a better way for me to do this short of having my family stay in a hotel room near Cherry Point for 3 months?

Explanation of PCS with TEMINS orders

Leave them where you are now and then do your PCS after you finish SERE. Your move of your actual physical goods doesn't have to coincide exactly with your travel, and if you have your family travel seperately, you actually make a little bit more money on the move.

Do you orders authorize you as a geo bachelor? If so, you should get full BAH for San Diego for your family.
