This is a recording of the FAA transmissions between Shooter 25 and SoCal Approach. They are a matter of public record as they were released by the FAA through the FOIA channels and have been played here on the local news. I am not advocating any discussion/speculation of the accident just stating that these aren't tapes of internal military communications.

Should have included this in my last post but......

The Marine Corps has already released their official findings of the accident. The investigating team and 3d MAW held an hour long press conference in which they spelled out minute by minute everything that happened on the flight from the shot off the deck of the CVN to the ejection and recovery of the pilot. The Marine Corps also owned up to their responsibility for the causes and results of the mishap. No speculations is needed as the official results can be found in the public domain.

^^ I noticed that too. However, the tower tapes communicating to and from the F-18 at Miramar were not included, only the communications between SoCal approach and the tower. I am surprised that they were not because anyone with an aviation radio can scan the frequencies...

I wish they hadn't deleted the gaps in the tapes because honestly after sitting through the brief the amount of time between the hand off to Miramar Tower and the crash was minimal. I'm not sure if much else could be gained by hearing that tape other then the Mayday call. When Shooter 25 said he was talking to people on the ground, he meant his squadron duty radio and there's no tape for that.

Jumpin Jesus on a pogo stick!!!! We are all one flight from completelly screwing the proverbial pooch... This was a very big rabid shitty assed pooch though. Good dudes and ass monkeys alike are susceptable to crappy decisions they make and the folks on deck sippin coffee might suggest....Away the uberzealous career ending ass shwacking team, the sanctity of my wings is upheld, I guess.

The Marine Corps HAS NOT released the official findings yet. This isn't over yet until SIR is published and then some......and I will stop at that.

And even though The Corps gave a public hearing in which the historical facts/events that took place were made public, this is not offically closed.

Yes, the SIR still needs to come out. If I recall correctly the SIR is FOUO. I am probably going out on a limb but I would venture to say that the local civilians got the answers they were looking for with the press conference. The SIR will be our own internal house cleaning. I should have stated that my comment was directed more at the question about the Miramar Tower tapes and the secret squirrels digging up the audio feed.

Edited my original post due to probably way too much speculation.
