My two friends just found out they got their pilot slots. I have never seen bigger smilies in my life.

So, if you are waiting for fall service selection, you should start hearing from your staff.

The entire time I was at my NROTC unit (UCLA), the CO of the unit would call the mid in his office to let him or her know just what they got. I was spring grad, so part of the fall/winter selection process. The day we found out, our CO is on leave and right before one of those NROTC classes, our XO walks in and just starts reading off names and selection. No warning, no get ready, just bam.........Aguilar 1390, Foster 1150, Marlar 1390, etc and walks out. I think 5 or 6 of us wanted aviation and only two of us got it so there were at least two very happy campers.

So that would make you either Aguilar or Marlar, right?

I'm Marlar and a very good friend Aguilar. He was a CH-47 driver, then flew metro liners (C-26) and now resides in the Air Force on their 10 year $250,000 bonus. I of course fly the mighty COD :D

I got pretty lucky with my service selection (december 2003). I initially got SNFO, but a week later BUPERs re-calculated and decided they needed 5 more SNA slots, so I was one of the lucky 5. Talk about emotional roller coaster. Funny story, back then all I wanted to do was fly, now I'm sitting here in Primary dreading my next flight , but then again, I think it's meant to be a somewhat miserable experience.

We have some prior UCLA mids!! Awesome. I am service selecting next may because I am taking an extra quarter. I am going for EOD, so I won't find out until the summer of 2006. It sucks, but if I get selected for EOD, I'm gonna celebrate like crazy

Do most people get their 1st choice? If 10 people wanted NA, of the 10 how many would get it?

if you really want to know, this is how it works. close your eyes, point your index finger and touch the screen, whatever number it lands on is how many are picked out of ten:

Like Mules said, it's ever changing as far as who gets aviation. When I selected, I was told there were 50 pilot slots with around 300 applicants. That was back in 92 by the way.

We were told that 92% of NROTC grads get their #1 choice. The new service selection formula was put out there to increase that number.
