Final Select and the EPSQ

Hey all,

I have been waiting for my final select for about a month now, and none of the people that I put down on my EPSQ have been contacted yet. Do they have to talk to everyone on your EPSQ before they make a final decision?? Or do they sometimes select you and then if your background check comes back with a negative, they kick you out?

One month is actually a very short period of time as far as these selection boards go. I went through the process twice before being selected BDCP Intel.

The first time the board took 4 months to get back to me. The second board took 3 months.

Also, they don't look at your EPSQ and start interviewing people (for your clearance) until AFTER you get selected. Don't sweat it man...just wait. Trust me I have been where you are now TWICE. All you can do is forget about it and wait for the response. (an impossible request)

Hey thanks for answering that EPSQ question. Anyway, Did it take that long for you to get just your final select, or the overall time it took from submitting your package to getting selected?

The wait is killing me. I just took a corporate 9 to 5 job and I hate it. I feel like my job is meaningless. i just want to serve my country.

No problem. Glad to help. Sorry, I was talking about the time from initial submit to final select/reject. It took me about 1 week to hear back about my final select once I was notified that I had been approved by the board. I would say that if you have been approved by the board and have been just waiting the final select for a whole month then I would contact your recruiter and see if perhaps they didn't give you the word that your final select was ok.

This advice is only based upon my experience so it may not be good advice for your situation.

I worked the corporate 9 to 5 for years and felt the same lack of meaning. That is exactly why I joined too. I hope you make it! Let us know.

Get used to "the big wait". No matter what you do you will end up sitting around for a while be it waiting for selection, before you report to OCS, before you start your school after commissioning or a combination of the above. At least you have a corporate job. I worked at Target for 9 months pushing shopping carts before I got my report date. :)

Why enemy pilots dont sleep well
Out of curiosity, what happens if you dont get a clearance? is it easier to get cleared if you are military vs. civilian?

curious and cant sleep.
