applying for the fiscal year

Now I know everyone is going to say apply as soon as you can and re-apply if not selected, but I've heard that there are more pilot slots for OCS at the beginning of fiscal year. Is there any truth to this? It makes sense that when they open up the next years classes there would be say 100 openings for the next year as opposed to maybe only 10 for the current year. Wink, do you or any of the officer recruiters have any idea about this? Also, does the board see how many times you've applied? I know alot of guys apply 2-3 or more times before they get the nod, I was just wondering if the board has the ability to see that and say hey this kid has some tenacity. I plan to apply until the board accepts me... I figure if it takes me 17 tries they will eventually say hes not going away so lets bring him aboard!;)

I'm not really qualified to answer your first question, but from what I hear they balance the number of slots throughout the year pretty well. As to your question about how many times you can apply, it certainly can't hurt to re-apply if you don't get in on your first try. Just make sure to keep your resume updated and be ready to answer questions about what you've been up to in the interim.

Theoretically, there would be more slots next year, but BDCPers mess that up by locking up quotas 2 to 3 FYs in advance. Also, it's not when you apply, but rather when you'll be going to OCS that matters. For instance, the FY starts in October, but non-BDCP selects probably applied in the summer to get into a class in the next FY. In other words, don't worry about it, and just apply...besides, if this FY is full, I'm sure they'll have no problem accepting someone for a class next FY at no cost to them (non-BDCP).
