Yes, you'll spend a whole day during indoc week getting it done, and then you'll spend the rest of the time up in OCS trying to fix what they screwed up.

You'll still need to go to NAMI when you check into NASC, but it won't be half as bad as in OCS.

Yes, you should because you receive a long form physical in OCS. Nothing is for certain though.

Anyone know anything about SNA's/SNFO's NAMI/NOMI (pre-API) flight physicals being done ONLY in Newport, RI now? My friend (an SNA) down in Pcola said his OCS flight physical (recieved the monday of indoc week) was sufficient and that he didn't have to get another physical when he got to Pcola. Sounds like this is a very new change, if its correct.

Our Chief told us this is how the system is supposed to work in order to save time and money as well as to give us Aviators a medical "thumbs up" before we commission and owe the Navy time... Be nice not to have to get another "NAMI Whammy!"

Anyone with any knowledge of the current situation please post and let me know if I'm right or wrong. Don't want to be giving out bad gouge.

McC, yes it's supposed to be like that, but I apparently needed glasses (even though I tested 20/15 at meps) after my physical in Newport, so I had to get my eyes checked again when I checked in(suddenly I'm back to 20/15). I sat around for a few hours and shot the breeze till I got my up-chit, you'll still need to do the same if your eyes are ok though.
