My apologies if this has been covered recently, I've been out of the loop.

What options are available if, for whatever reason, a Marine fails to complete flight school. Is the flight contract (6 or 8 years) active even though he may not have been assigned an aircraft yet? What length of service is he committed to and how much say does he have in choosing a new MOS?

No wings= no extended commitment
MOS depends but it all needs of the Corps at that point expect to be an AMO or something like that. You would owe 3 years and the tiem at flight school I think can count.

It depends combining wash outs and DORs probably between 15-25 percent. If you want to make it you will. Just study hard show up ready to go and you will be fine. I would say if I made it anyone can but I'm pretty damn good (Im just kidding). The only guys I saw wash out were ones that had given up mentally already

i had three buddies wash out of flight school (2 out of primary, the other out of jets) ... two got Air Intel and one got MO. that was 4 years ago though

i'm a damn idiot, and publically educated, if i can make it, most people can, just gotta have a good attitude (and not suck)

The last few new MOSs I've heard (and this is a few months ago) being assigned were tanks, artillery, and air intel. But, if you apply yourself through the monotony that is API, and bust your ass afterwards, you should be fine.

There are a few people waiting around here to pick up new MOS's, but it's taking a while. The Marines I'm thinking of all put some of the more desirable MOS's on their preference list, so whether or not they'll get them might be in question. But, straight from the Colonel's mouth: "We will do our very best to get you your number one pick." Personally, I'm inclined to believe him, too. Because if I didn't, he would crush me. He's a very scary man.

I've got a friend who is a 7208 at Cherry Point. I keep hearing that the DASC gets a lot of the NFOs who don't make it through training.
Alot of them end up in Comm. The ones I went to TBS with tended to get adjutant though.

So what you're trying to say is...you could pretty much wind up anywhere.

That's Senor Frog to you.

The thought (threat?) of sitting around MATSG for a few months waiting to be reassigned is incentive enough to bust my okole in flight school.
