Just curious about the flight training PLC participants recieve while still in college. My OSO explained that after I complete the first 6 week increment of OCS that I begin flight training through a civilian branch paid for by the Marine Corps. Just wondering if anybody had any information regarding this aspect of the PLC program. Thanks

I thought you had to complete both PLC Jr and PLC Sr to be eligible? Additionally, I was under the impression that you had to commit to accepting your commission before being able to start the program.

My OSO said that after the first increment that you recieved non military flight training, i think up to 40 hours, while still in college. He may be wrong, but I read something that said that as well on the internet.

It's called FIP (flight indoctrination program). I used it last summer before I recieved my commission. If I remember correctly the paperwork said that a candidate has to complete Sr's to be eligible. Basically, you find 3 (if possible) local instuctors and have them fill a form out and send it in to HQ and they decide who you will train with. The USMC will then send a basic syllabus to that particular instructor to follow. It's very flexible. Once my instructor met the requirments for the hours I was supposed to be at, he went ahead and continued with training until I reached my 25 hour limit (which is where the USMC stops paying) If time permits you can pay for the 15 extra hours to get your PPL, but I didn't have that kind of $$$$!
