For those who have already taken the exam, a question

hey guys,

It's been a long time since I've practiced math. I've looked for study advice in other posts, but I still have a few questions. For the ASTB, what do I need to memorize going in?

Do I need to know conversion rates? (examples: feet to meters, joules to watts, etc)

Do I need to memorize any formulas? (quadratic formula, area of a circle, calculating velocity or current)

How intense is the algebra, about the same level as the GRE?

As for formulas, they're provided for you on the test.

I'm currently studying for the GRE (using Kaplan) so I haven't taken it yet, but the math I saw on the ASTB was somewhat similar to what I see in the GRE book, but I would say easier. Just do a lot of practice with algebra and word problems. Dig through the link I posted, yeah there are a lot of pages and posts in it, but it's invaluable. There's great gouge there and it'll help a lot! Good luck!

You should consider memorizing the fundamental theorem of calculus, know how to do a remand sum, probably and know how to prove that pv=nRT...

Those are just the basics though... If you can get at least a 33 on the MCAT you should do okay on the ASTB. Otherwise you're probably out of luck.
