He spoke at one of my squadron dining outs and we ribbed him mercilessly about his old anti-histamine commercials. He took it just like any true naval aviator and laughed along with us.

He's made his final flight.

RIP.

I'm glad you mentioned his commercials. I was talking with my boss, (who happens to be a retired RCAF Colonel & hornet driver), this afternoon about Schirra and neither one of us could remember who he did commercials for. Thanks.
