What do I think of getting married in uniform? I think a guy should DEFINITELY get married in uniform. It's just so classy. Every guy I know who is in the military got married in his uniform.

As far as a girl goes though, I wouldn't trade a beautiful wedding gown for a uniform.... most girls opt for the wedding gown over their uniforms.

What kind of name, for a Marine, is "bighuggies"? Noe of the Marines I know are very huggable...

I'm not too familiar with Marine Corps uniforms... I would assume the Service Dress Uniform (with the blood strip?) would be the appropriate choice. Kinda different for the Navy, as we have dress whites and dress blues.

Pretty much all the Marine officer wedding pictures I've seen had this uniform:

or the same jacket with the blue pants that have the red stripe. Our wedding was black-tie and a Marine friend who came wore that uniform (with the blue pants that have the red strip).

Do you keep your cover on while indoors in the chapel, church, mosque, synagogue, etc?

And yes, I'm sure some Marines are huggable. Just ask the lady getting married in the picture above.

You wear whichever uniform your future wife wants you to wear ;) And usually, no cover or swords worn inside a place of worship.

The 4 or 5 Marine weddings I have been to (including my own), the groom wears Dress Blues with white trousers and the sword detail/groomsmen wear Dress Blues with Blue trousers. As the picture that is included in this post shows (as they all wore white trousers), it is up to the bride and groom (read...it is up to the bride). Any of this goes for anytime of the year (so, yes if you want to wear the whites in a fall/winter/spring wedding, then do that). Hope this helps...good luck!

Or you could not get married. Just remember, the Marine Corp, Like the Navy, does not issue you a wife with your seabag...

No covers in places of worship, although we were married in a synagogue, so my husband (and all the men who attended, military or not) wore a kippah.

wear your blues and have your sword arch wear your blues-take care of your single friends. Bridesmaids love the blues/sword combos gowns just fall off I mean it makes for a nice ceremony.
Since it is mostly spouses who are on this site make sure the sword arch welcomes the bride to the Marine corps.

I had Blue-White Alphas, as did all my sword arch and the Marines in the wedding party. I would just wear the uniform of the season--i.e. summer: everyone in B/W; winter: everyone in blues. If you want to be a pinhead, you should be in bravos (no medals) in a leave/libbo status; but I thought medals looked better, and I, or maybe my wife, was the CO of my wedding. I chose the uniform, and finally got to wear my Sam Browne after 7 years.
