Great story but I am not sure you can afford to be so chivalrous when losing. If my home cities were getting pounded day and night I probably wouldnt let the bomber crew come back re-equipted , repaired and wiser.

Ditto ... which points to the utter duplicity and futility of most "war". :(

Enemies yesterday, friends today. And tomorrow ... ???

Another lesson is that sparing life when you can usually serves a higher purpose than taking life when that is an available, but fairly pointless, option. It is good that wars often reflect this quality in all of us.
