Well I thought I did a little better, however; my recruiter said I scored higher than what the average ppl he tests score. I do not know what that is saying . . . lol.

OAR 49
AQR 6
PFAR 6
FOFAR 5

I am going to take it again in 30 days because I know I can do better. Just give me an honest critique and let me know what I can do to fix it. I am going out for SNA. Thanks everyone.

Hmm...for SNA, I think everyone is going to tell you they all need to be higher...for reference, I got Supply with 52, 4/5/4...so you smoked me on the Pilot/NFO aptitude part. Which part did you find the most challenging? That would help everyone to tailor their advice...the toughest part for me, personally, was the mechanical part, since it had been about 6 years since I had Physics.

Here is my post about a week ago on how I thought I did . . . and my critique of the test:

Just took the ASTB!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, i studied for over 4 weeks . . . Gouge, ARCO, Cliff, Nautical Info Websites, and the FAA Pilots handbook of aeronautical knowledge.

I took FORM 5:

Overall, I think the test was not to hard at all. The math was easier than on Gouge and Arco . . . it was all simple algebra. However, I almost ran out of time on the math. Reading was a little tougher than i thought, in all the study guides there is a wide variety of questions for the reading. However, on the actual test it was ONLY question such as 36 and 37 in cliff, and 26 -30 in the ARCO. You will be pressed for time on this section as well, some of them can be tricky but most are simple (just read them twice and then look at the answers). The mechanical (which was is my weakest when studying) was fairly easy and simple, just understand MA (mechanical advantage) and other basics and you should be fine. The Spacial Appreception part was VERY EASY i finished in 6 mins and had 4 mins to review them. I dont think i missed one, one or two were a little bit more tricky than those in the ARCO and Gouge. Just as a side note i do not have a pilots liscense nor have i got much substanial flight time (four hours). however, i think what helped me most on the spatial was games. I play microsoft combat flight simulator and IL2 sturmovik (awesome game) a lot and that made it easy. The aviation nautical was almost identical to what you study in the gouge; however, i would have to say that by studying the FAA pilots handbook i knew at least four i would not have othewise. There was only one question on weather. the questions were split pretty much 50/50 on aviation and nautical. for nautical go to this website and you will know everything you need to know:http://www.boat-ed.com/wa/course/p1-3_boatparts.htm use the pull down menu on the left and read through the chapters 1-4 and you'll be good. know bouys and right of way. be prepared for one - two random questions. Lastly, the aviation supp. was probably the hardest section just because of all the variety and the aviation nautical questions get a little harder. Anyways, thanks a lot for all of ya'lls help, it made my first time taking it much easier than i thought it would be. I get my scores back in a week i am shooting for 7/7/7 OAR 60+ but you never know. I will let you all know how i did when i get it back. Good luck!

Those are decent scores, but you may want to try for 7's and an OAR at least in the 50's to truly be competitive for SNA. Given the info you've provided about the test, and the fact that you've now seen how the test looks first hand, those scores should not be out of reach for you. You should know better than anyone else where your weak areas are - hit those areas hard and keep everything else fresh and you'll be fine.

I hope to God you didn't get a 5 on your OAR...
You got a five on one of you smaller scores, the test looks for different things to get those scores.

The MIN are 4's and I believe a 42? on you OAR. but if you get those it will be a pretty chilly day in Hell if you hope to get in.
