Gotta Love the Waiting Game...

Packet is in (to my recruiter), and now we wait.........

What are you all doing to pass the time?

For me, I have a goal of getting my PT scores from "good enough" to "as high as possible." I figure there's enough time, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to max out my scores.

I also thought about starting my Master's Degree, but I'm not sure how I'd pay for it right now...

Ho-ly smokes, you're a girl!
Guilty :D

My advice: get a job that's worthwhile where you'll get to flex your brain a little bit if you can. Otherwise, I recommend getting in killer shape and having some side jobs just to keep yourself from going bonkers.
Ideally, I'd like to find part time work doing whatever, and that way still have time to do some volunteering and have plenty of work-out time. I'm still holding out (a little...) hope that the FY12 Selection Boards will be sooner than later... **fingers crossed**

Just drink a lot and try not to catch anything that won't go away by the time OCS starts. However, don't be a pussy and not at least put yourself into the position to catch something....as often as possible, if you're picking up what I'm putting down. Oh, and drink a lot.

but "DRINK RESPONSIBLY" ...had to cover my ass, another concept in Naval Aviation this day in age.

I recommend pretending like you never applied for your job in the Navy, go about your life like you normally would. Whether it be sitting around eating cheeseburgers and drinking beer.. or running marathons, and looking for the next big job gig.. Either way if you get selected you will have to sit around 6-8 months usually anyhow (which is more than enough time to train for OCS), and it will be a nice surprise. Or, the bigger thing is you might not want it anymore and realized you got a better gig for yourself now and leave the spot to someone else. ;) .. Stressing leads to acid reflux, which leads to doctors and medicine, which leads to medical waivers in the military, which leads to, everything you don't want it to lead to :) Well, good luck!

Been at this for awhile now and as said above, do things you would do if you got a no from the Navy, plus maybe a couple resume builders....

Example: I have two jobs (one full time-major leadership, one part-time-paperpushing), doing a second Americorp program(Habitat for hum, mercy corp), working on my MA fulltime, working on a postbac part-time, and working out daily (most days doubles even).

Staying busy is good. Makes the wait seem shorter. :)

Guilty as charged, Moc1Sig.

I've been seeking help in an effort to create a smoother transition process in the adjustment process to an exciting world full of these interesting creatures of the opposite sex. Your kind words are calming and reaffirming. I'm glad this is normal.

And thus you get a taste of what it is like for us girls putting up with all the guys in this male dominated profession :p (I kid ;))

This comment has had me thinking all morning. I certainly agree with this, but I haven't actually done it. I've been doing little stuff just to get by in the hopes that I'd get picked up soon. I'd like your opinion. I'm thinking about joining the police department, but I wouldn't think it's fair to sign up if I know I'd leave immediately if given a better opportunity (SNA contract). So, do you have any insight that might alter my perspective here?

I've been pondering the same thing. I actually have a test date scheduled with the police department in a couple months. But at the same time, I know it's a competitive job, so I'd feel bad to get it, complete their training, and then leave for the Navy.

Go for the PD test...you gotta look out for yourself. Nothing wrong with bolting for your dream shot, the PD is (usually) pro-military and a lot of prior service in it, so I think they would understand.
