GPA vs OAR

I am a recent graduate with a degree in Applied Physics and minor in Mathematics and looking into being commissioned as a navy officer. I was rejected from the nuclear program and am going to try my luck at the nearest Intel and CEC boards.

My GPA however is only a 2.75 which I know is not competitive. My OAR score ended up being a 71 which I was told by my recruiter would make-up for my low GPA. Will my OAR score REALLY make that much of a difference as to me getting in? I heard that OAR scores don't matter in terms of being pro-rec'd as a CEC but will my score being so high make a difference? CEC is my prioritized position over Intel but I will take what I can get.

There are a few posts around the site relating to this. You likely aren't going to get a hard answer to your question outright, but a quick use of the the "search" function will yield some information to chew on.

Min GPA for Intel is a 2.8 and CEC 2.7 though very rarely do they take sub 3.0 GPAs. Your best bet to being an officer is aviation. If you're sold on wanting to go Nuke then there's always the enlisted Nuke route.

In order to be accepted into the CEC community you need a degree from an accredited engineering or architecture program. I am not sure that applied physics qualifies. Listen to Rufio.
