grades from community college

When applying to BDCP, or straight to OCS for that matter, does the gpa from only a four year college count? Or does the board consider your overall gpa from a community college and 4 year college? For example, if I have a 3.0 from a 4 year and a 3.7 from a community college, would I be applying with a 3.0 or with a mix of the two gpa's?

For straight OCS they average your two GPAs together. However, my recruiter told me that they also look at your University GPA by itself as well.

The reason I am asking is because I am applying for SNA BDCP and with my 4 year university gpa I have just a little under the required 2.7 with something like a 2.65, but I had a 3.8 at a community college and I was wondering if that gpa would be considered too so that I can apply with higher than a 2.7

3.75 from community college. might actually be a 2.74 overall from texas a&m. b.s. in economics and a 3.0 gpa in major

not yet, the 2.74 from texas a&m is a projected gpa after this semester is over. I will send in my app late may. any comments?

Not trying to be negative or dissuade you from applying, but your GPA is not competitive at all. Many have been rejected with 3.25+ in engineering fields. Do you have extra-curricular activities and letters of recommendation to help your application? Do you have extenuating circumstances as to why your GPA is so low?

As for advice, you can't get accepted if you don't try. If you are truly interested in becoming a Naval Officer, not just the money in BDCP, you can continue to work hard in school, bring the grades up, get the extras and submit a package for straight OCS later in your college career.

I have very good extracurriculars, LOR's, volunteer service, etc... Gpa is so low because I spent a while trying to find something I enjoyed in college rather than what I thought would impress people. I have a 3.0 in my major and I have seen guys get accepted to BDCP with 2.7 exactly only with really good ASTB scores. I have seen guys get picked up to OCS with even lower than that.

bdcp transfer colleges

just take a look all around this site. there are sna selects that have had gpa's extremely similar to mine and rocked the astb and had good lor's, extracurriculars, etc... I have learned that the whole person image is definitely what you are judged by. I have also learned that it will obviously be somewhat of a struggle to get into BDCP with a 2.74, but there is a reason that the cut off is a 2.7 and its because they WILL and HAVE selected people with a 2.7 because that is the minimum gpa.

Looking at the stats around here, there are guys who have had slightly worse GPA's and gotten picked up. Sure it may not be very competitive, but if the timing is right who knows. Do what you can to bring that GPA up before you graduate and then just roll the dice...

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Key words to live by for everything to do with Naval Aviation. The only thing is you don't know when the timing will be right, so just do what you have to do (a.k.a., apply!)

Just ask my buddy who had a 65 finishing primary a few weeks ago but caught up in a P3 draft....

Who are you trying to convince, us or yourself? Apply already.
