Anyone here live in Gulf Breeze or know anyone that does? I just found a great house there for a great price and I was wondering how worth it it is to live there, with regards to driving distances and whatnot. Any help would be appreciated!

With regards to driving distances it is not that bad of a drive, I knew guys who lived on pensacola beach and they never had any complaints about the drive, but then again that was in A-pool in the summertime.
The only thing I would worry about is the bridge over to pensacola, if there is an accident or some other catastrophe you might be a few minutes late.

In my opinion I wished i had lived closer to pensacola beach area, the cab rides would have been a lot cheaper and besides, living near base is overated

Go for it, the drive into work won't be all that bad, and you'll definitely be glad to be closer to the beach. Especially if you are in A Pool. Besides, there isn't a whole lot in Pensacola except the beach.

I doubt I'll be in A-Pool for long, so I'm told. Thanks for the input, though. I'm still looking, but that house is almost too good to pass up (and no, I won't say where it is or where I found it...I ain't that dumb!).

BTW .... speaking as a former resident of Gulf Breeze ..... "Back-in-the-Day" the guys who lived in Gulf Breeze got the best grades ..... :) ... and had the most fun while being a Navy Stud (a.k.a. SNA).

Get some testosterone .... Screw the commute ..... it's worth the trip.

i grew up in gulf breeze and will be living their soon so i'm kinda biased. i thought it was great. i commissioned this week so i'll be back with mom and dad by the end of the month. they said they'd move curfew back an hour which will work out great.

traffic is a pain anytime after 0700 in the morning or between 1430 and 1530 if you get caught in school traffic since all three schools are within 150 yards of each other and let out about 10 mins apart, but the close proximity to beaches is always a plus.

oh yeah, it's a dry county too, so stock up on your necessities in town.

Probably a waste of a post, and I may get flamed, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me you were joking about "mom and dad".....please please please please tell me you're not going to live with mom and dad during API. Dude, if you are, you're going to be sorry. Like, for the rest of your aviation career. Not speaking from knowledge, just knowing that if one of MY buddies lived with parents as a permanent lodging situation as an officer.....he would NEVER hear the end of it. NEVER. And that's only right. Please dude, tell me you were joking. Please. I'll pay you.

Well, you never know, "mom and dad" might be loaded with a waterfront house, pool and jacuuzzi and planning on taking an trip to europe this summer. With THAT, he might just be the most popular JO in his alpha pool. He might also have a cute sister or girlfriends that he would've hooked you up with, but now that you opened your trap you just shot yourself in the foot... :D

Smiles for everyone... :) :) :)

Gulf Breeze is great - go for it!

I just moved down to an apt in Gulf Breeze last week from TBS. This place is infinately better than Quantico, so my opinion may be tainted.

Drive to NAS Pens. is about 40 minutes even during rush hour. Drive home in the afternoon can suck if there is a wreck (a car full of people got smoked on 98 the other day, so I sat in traffic for awhile while they measured skid marks) I'm guessing big wrecks like that are rare. Navarre Beach looks like a postcard and is about 7 miles and a bridge from me. If you end up at Whiting, the drive shouldn't be too terrible (prob around 40-45min). Let me know if you end up here.
