I came on active duty in 1981 - didn't Reagan give us like 12% pay raise ?

That was Congress with both the House and Senate under Dem leadership, during the Carter administration.

It was 14.3% by Carter as part of an effort to bolster the All Volunteer force. Reagan’s high was 4.1% and the current NDA is looking to a 14% raise for the kids in the E-1 to E-3 ranks.

If I were still on active duty I’d prefer the Andrew Jackson like 32.3% pay raise!
