Back when we had DC-10s, Hawaiian and many other airlines conducted sim training at the United Airlines training center in Denver. While there, we stayed at the Radisson across the street.
The bar at the Radisson was well patronized by pilots from many airlines but Brent, the bartender, had a thing for Hawaiian. He was working on his licenses and made it very clear that Hawaiian was where he wanted to spend his flying career. This was great for us because we typically drank all night yet only paid for 1 or 2 beers at the most. Many times we didn't pay at all. When the hors'dourves were running out, Brent always had another warm tray behind the bar with fresh hors'dourves saved for us. The other airlines were jealous of the service Brent gave Hawaiian guys.
It's been almost 7 years since the last Hawaiian new hire class and 6 years since we last trained at United in Denver but......Brent is now a Hawaiian pilot. He is in the first new hire class that started today. We told him we would remember and we did.
