If you like to fly planes then this is your place. I've met a few people who have come here and said that they had more fun flying the tweet than any of the other aircraft in their careers. If you have a choice between the tweet and the t-6, I strongly reccomend the tweet. They've been flying it for 50 years, you'd figure that they've got it down by now. If you want to sit in alot more sims than your tweet friends, feel free to ask for the texan. Of course the downside is the time outside the cockpit. The town is horrible, the best restruant is 10 miles away in the next town and it is only open 3 days a week. Last night at WallMart someone told me to mind my own business for simply looking in their direction...a few people here seem to be jealous, and you will see why when you arrive.
The 12 hour a day thing does exist, but it isn't quite what it might sound like. You don't sit at attention for 12 hours a day studying. You fly (about 3-4 hours from brief to debrief), sim (about the same), have ground school lectures, and other "events" to attend to during your day, plus the "formal brief" which can last an hour. Once you get into the swing of things, you won't even have the time to sit around in the flight room to study up for your next event because you'll be doing three events a day. Another thing that helps is that your classmates have no choice but to help one another, so you learn from everyone's mistakes. The IPs, for the most part, are amazing, and will do anything they can to help you suceede. Keep in mind that while you're on formal release, you won't always be there 12 hours. Its up to the flight commander to release you for the day, and the IPs in the flight are usually there longer than you are, so they know that you can't do 12 on 12 off forever.
If you're single, you will live in the Q unless they are out of space. Its soley a crap shoot and you won't know till you know. I know you may want to live off base for any number of reasons, but unless you need to run a meth lab (of which there are tons of in this town), you should really consider living on base.
