Help me out (kit not reviewed, trying to figure out why)

I submitted my completed kit with my OR in October. Choices as Intel, SWO-IW, and SWO. I was told today by my OR that I was not in front of the latest SWO board at all. Anyone know why that might be?

Meeting with OR tomorrow to discuss it, but wanted to walk in with some idea of what was going on.

Swo can only be your first and second choice. This has been beaten like a dead horse on here as well as on the recruiting side.
That would explain it. Guess my new to the job recruiter screwed the pooch when he told me to put SWO 3 then. Thanks for the quick reply rufio.

That's exactly what I was saying...
My mistake, I thought you were speaking to the way many programs, to my understanding, will reject you out of hand for 3rd choice. Out of curiosity, is there any program you can take as 3rd that isn't a waste of paper?

for the most part, not anymore

Followup question here, because I've heard it both ways.

Non-pilot applying to Intel, SWO, and IW (mostly Intel / SWO).

ASTB required or no? Recruiter said no and submitted without, but I recall reading somewhere here that it was for Intel.

Only OAR

In the interest of not kicking over another thread, I'm going to seek some further advice here.

Little bit of back story. I first started trying to get in touch with local recruiter in November of 2013. Never had a phone call returned. As a result you can imagine I have a bit of distrust towards the local office. I ended up working with an out of region recruiter before being handed off in June '14 to the new local recruiter that is doing his first bit as a recruiter. Packet submitted in full in October of '14, listed as Intel, SWO-IW, and SWO (1, 2, 3).

In late December I was told that Intel board scheduled had not made any selections and put off into March. In February I was told that the March board had been canceled. I hear on this site that Intel is closed. I’d mistakenly believed that I had SWO as my 2nd choice, but confirmed it was 3rd and that as 3rd I wasn’t in front of SWO boards here (above in this thread).

I spoke to my recruiter and processor today and expressed interest in swapping to SWO as 1st or 2nd choice, since I’ve been told here that low GPA means basically zero chance of selection for anything Intel related.. They said my package had been received in October, and that in order to make a changes (like bumping SWO to 1 or 2) I’d have to completely withdraw my submission and basically start all over again. They also strongly suggested not doing so, with the belief that an Intel board might meet in June and that I could be selected by that board. I brought up low GPA and the comments here about Intel being closed, and they responded that it was more likely closed to new applicants, and that since my kit was already at NRC I still had a shot. They also suggested that good LOR and OAR could result in selection and claimed to have seen people with lower GPAs taken for Intel.

They claimed that the SWO as 3rd not being accepted was not clear to them in October of '14. Finally, they noted that my kit apparently was flagged with D/L, which they didn't know the meaning of. The processor claimed he'd look into it.

Now, here’s the advice part. Are they blowing smoke up my ass on this? Is there any chance of an Intel board meeting before October at the earliest, or any chance of selection given my stats? If there is they argued there was no reason not to leave the kit where it was until that date passed, since there would be plenty of time to get it in front of the next SWO board, which they suggested wouldn't be until October. Is that correct, or again, am I getting the run around? Just looking for second opinions (and third opinions, and fourth...).

Thanks in advance for any assistance or advice.

Edit I don't want this to come across as bashing either my recruiter or processor, as neither has been anything other than affable and approachable to this point. I'm simply trying to conduct my due diligence, since not doing so in the past and listening only to their advice has put me in my current position.
