Household Goods - Navy AD to OCS - Storage Options?

I was picked up to head to OCS at some point this year. I am currently active duty and am curious what my options are as for moving from California to Newport to Virginia Beach?

Is there a storage option for belongings while in OCS? Am I responsible for that? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

love that idea.. would make things a bit more simple... but, alas.... not single and not looking to sell
Firstly, your Household goods will not be sent to Newport for OCS because it's not considered a PCS. Secondly, I believe you can store your household goods up to 6 months after they pick it up from your previous station. Double checked that, but I'm pretty sure they'll store it for some time, just in case you can't find a place in time, at your new duty station, for the movers to drop off your goods.

When I went to OCS, I didn't schedule my household goods move till the last couple of weeks of OCS. You'll have phone and computer access there during the last couple of weeks of OCS. You can't schedule a household goods move until you have PCS orders, and you won't get those until the last couple of weeks of OCS. If you are trying to move before OCS, and before you get your PCS orders during OCS, then the cost may be out of pocket to move your stuff and store it.

This is pretty lame. My situation is the opposite, trying to get everything sent out west while I’m at OCS. My family will not be staying in Hampton Roads ? while I’m at OCS lolol.

I don’t know the answer specifically but this should be covered in the JTR. If you aren’t already I’d recommend at least getting somewhat familiar with that pub.
