Since I am single on paper, will I have problems getting a place to live with my fiance? I was told that if I am single when I go to P-cola, then I will have to live in the BOQ. Is this true? Would it just be easier to try to get an apartment off base and not even deal with base housing if I am allowed? Thanks for any advice.

First off, I am NOT an expert on this by any means, but I think it is true that if you're "single" then you have to live in the BOQ for API. I don't think they give you the option of living off base unless you're married during API. I could be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Would you consider getting your marriage license early and just having the wedding when you orginally planned?

If you have no dependents, then you are not entitled to any type of government family housing. Even if you were entitled, only dependents can live there with you. The BOQ is full by most accounts, so you should be able to draw BAH to live in town. By the way, I assume from your user name that you're a guy, so you may want to refer to her as fiancee, unless it's not a her, in which case I'm not allowed to ask.

A quick way around this if it fits with your plans etc is to do a justice of teh peace wedding then you can either live out in town or family housing and then do a "real" wedding later

Being married or single makes no difference living off base during API. Anyone can live off base during API, you just have to fill out a piece of paper and get your orders stamped that there's no room at the Q. You'll only get single BAH I'm sure.

i lived with my fiancee at the time during API. let me tell you its hard financially if you're not married and especially if she doesnt have a job..which most likely will happen if you're gonna leave florida after API. Getting single pay and supporting more than myself was tough. i had about 500 bucks to our name when i moved out of pensacola and thats because i sold a lot of valuables on ebay. if you know you're not gonna leave her in the future and she's the one you should just get married and do the "real" one later like said before.
