How were you notified that you were accepted? I put in my application a couple weeks ago and have been waiting to hear back from my recruiter. My girlfriend just called to say that a fedex box from my recruiter just showed up with a t-shirt, Marine day planner, some kind of a coin, video, preparation guide for OCS and a message from the Commandant of the Marine Corps. I won't be home to see what this is all about for a few days and want to know from you guys if this means anything significant or if it is normal to get this stuff for just putting in your app. Besides, the review board doesn't meet until April 2nd, right?

Nope, afraid not. That package is the "welcome aboard" package that every applicant gets after contracting. You're right about the board. Won't know til the first of April sometime.

What's everyone applying for? I'm PLC Jrs, 1st increment. Good luck to all!

I got the same package. We are all just in the waiting game right now. My OSO has us scheduled to go to a Mini-OCS in April. Should be a good time, and a chance to meet other candidates going to OCS this summer.

I am applying for PLC JRs Ground.

D'oh! I got shafted on the shirt then. I got the "Pain is Weakness leaving the body" one. Oh well...

I got the same "Pain is weakness..." shirt that's so big I'll never wear it. I was called when I was accepted. It took eons for me, around 3 months. I'm going to Jrs. 1st Increment.

PFT was a 255, I never took the SAT but I had an 89 on the ASVAB, I can't exactly remember my ASTB score. I think my board was right around Christmas. I had sent my packet in October. I have no idea what took so long. Some guys form the OSO heard back in two weeks. Best of luck Big.

Before I got the word, the only thing I could think of was "if I don't make this [january] board, i'm hosed, because my GPA's going south this quarter." My OSO was on Campus the day he called me with the news. I had an adrenaline high for the next two or three hours. Found out about three weeks after I submitted the packet. Jrs. 2nd Increment, NFO Contract (damn eyes).

1430 SAT, 9/9/8 ASTB, 237 PFT (got up to 280 a week or so after I submitted my packet), 3.3 cumulative GPA

my package is going in right after I get my pap done on monday. (woo hoo!) I'm going for a ground spot now. I contrated this past monday right after I did my PFT and I got that welcome package that day. I got the pain is weakness shirt... but it's a large and I'm only 5'0 tall... the sleeves are more like long sleeves and it comes down to my knees... so I think I'm giveing it to my dad. My OSO told me he'd get me the other one when he gets more, but he was all out. Good luck to everyone else putting theirs in for this board too!

Little, good luck to you. Why you going for a ground spot I thought you wanted air? Is this your first or second USMC ap?
What does it mean to be "contracted" is this when you submit your ap?

Well first I was a Alternate and that just sucked. I found out by calling my OSO like every day. Than once I was an alternate I would call like 3X a week. Finaly my OSO had me come down to the office for som bs and right b4 I left he said "...oh by the way this came in for you" it was a formal certificate saying I had been accepeted, probably the best day of my life, yeah even better than college grad.
Oorah
Good luck to all of you. The hard work will be worth it.

I'm going ground now because I have bad depth perception in my eyes :( But it's alright, because I still want to be a marine officer!!! It's my first time applying for the marines. You contract when you sign all the papers (there's a lot of them!) and swear in and stuff. It's your last chance to go running out of the office as my OSO put it. But I didn't run! Yea!!! My OSO has only sent 8 females to OCS and none of them have gotten through yet... I told him I'd be the first :)
