How do transfer GPA's work?

I have transferred schools a couple of times and I was wondering how they figure your GPA for OCS selection. I know that they will see transcripts from all the colleges you have attended. The school I am at now does not take transfer credit in to consideration when figuring my GPA there, so is the GPA that they figure going to be the one that goes on my OCS application. I am wondering because I was considering re-taking a couple classes from another school to improve my grade, but if the bad grade is not reflected in my current GPA anyway then this would be a waste of time correct? Should I just focus on getting the highest GPA possible where I am at? I'm sure some of you on here have transfered schools before applying to OCS, so how did it work for you?
To give some insight I had a 1.62 semester at USNA and a cumulative around 2.3, but I now have a GPA in the high 3's. If the two were to be combined I probably wouldnt have above a 3.0, but the GPA that I would graduate would be the high one. Would this new "better" GPA for my current school be the one that they go with?

So it might look good to retake a class or two and show that I can handle the material? aka technical classes?

They don't care what the school says your GPA is. They take each class credit by credit and weight it according to their own system. E.g. 4 credits at one school is the same as 4 credits at another school. Transfer credit is considered from the school it originally came from. Hence why you turn in transcripts for all schools you attended. Keep in mind that actual numbers matter little. Off the top of my head I think the minimum GPA for aviation is something rediculous like a 2.4, but the competitive range is 3.0 and up. They do take the whole person concept into account, which is why you see 3.7's being rejected infavor of 3.0's with other qualities.

As far as what to do now: just act like you need to do well in your classes, because you do. If you got all A's freshman year and all C's and D's for the last year, you can have a 3.8, that still looks bad. Slack-off time doesnt exist anymore.

I guess I am trying to find out how best to use my time and resources. I am committed to getting an OCS slot. If I found out that I needed to retake all my college classes and start over to achieve that I would probably do it. I am wondering if retaking say my USNA calc I and chem I classes (which I earned a D in both) and earned an A the second time around would that be a good idea? How would the board look at someone that had a really poor first year or so, but then recieved very good grades after that? For instance if my cumulative GPA is only 3.1 but I have earned straight A's for the last year and a half would the turn around in my academics be noted? Has anyone been in this boat?
