I had a buddy ask me how the CMO transition in P-3's is going and wasn't really able to give him a good answer. I left the squadron in June 2006 to go to OCS, right as CMO-5 was forming in JAX. I told him from what I understood it was like the Motor Pool in the Army where all of the planes are worked on by the group of Maintainers and then doled out to the squadrons as needed. From what I understand there are no longer "Squadron Planes" ie LF for VP-5 or LT for 16. Am I way out in left field here? And how effective has the transition been? Are the planes up more? How do the maintainers like it and how has topside responded?
