I guess the only saving grace is that not only was this guy stupid enough to bust the Blues’ TFR and damn near cause a midair, he was clueless enough to post the video on social media, presumably under his own name.

I hope the Feds crush his ass. Great story it would have been if #5 had taken that quadcopter down an intake. Either a single-engine divert that forces a rescue det to break quarantine, or an ejection over downtown Detroit, all because this assclown wanted to be an #influencer.

So foreseeable, you have to wonder what controls were in place for it...

It's impossible to police that kind of thing effectively. Of note, we were on a field trip to DIUx in Silicon Valley last year and they showed us an unclass device that could interrogate every DJI product (drone and operator) within a particular radius and show them all on a map. There are a surprising number of them being operated. They showed an average weekday in the Bay Area, then again when a sporting event was going on. Interesting comparison... lots of drones.

We’ve had one stroll across midfield of our local airport, small but towered with commuter airline service, during regular operating hours.

That's got to be something that worries the Blues pilots a lot flying at low altitude, over cities all the time.

Small side point, but if you're going to write an article or a caption for a photo, "proofread you writing". Dangerously v. dangerous. It's depressing how much professional content clearly isn't proofread. Just saying...

There are a lot of COTS C-UAS solutions out there. Performance varies but there are some good ones. Don't know how effective they'd be strapped to a jet...
