Whats the word? Heard good things but also heard the ride sucks. Any good instructors I should try to get-- or try to stay or away from? They seem to have had quite a few changes in their structure lately!

Any gouge on the instructors and stage checks?
Also heard IFS training helps alot in API?

The ride does suck. Instructors - I didn't go to BM, I was at Flight Training of Mobile. The instructors will be assigned to you, you don't really get to pick anyway. IFS is what you make of it. Really buckle down and try to learn as much as you can, and you'll walk away with a good experience and a good foundation for what is to come. I had a blasty blast.

The Destin ride sucked, but it was a good deal flying outta there. "Debriefs" at hooters were legitimate.

IFS only occurs at Mobile, Bay Minette and Milton as of right now.

I would recommend watching your speed to the T on Hwy59. I got two speeding tickets within the span of about 6 days in the same spot. I'll say, the first time I was legitimately speeding. The second time I know I just got picked out and pulled over. Due to my previous experience there I made sure to ride the cruise control all the way. I was told I was clocked several miles back and because of traffic it took him that long to catch up to me...at 9 o'clock on a Friday night in Robertsdale, AL...right. My father has been a police officer for as long as I have been alive so I know how it works and how it can work if they want it to.

Out of state tags + military stickers + small crappy town in Alabama = speeding tickets.

Anyway, all of that to say, be careful driving there.

As far as instructors are concerned, you'll learn real quick which ones are a learning experience to fly with and which ones make it a highly stressful experience. Don't be afraid to ask to change instructors if you are generally not getting along with someone or you don't feel safe at any point.

I hope not- The drive to Eglin/Destin sucked BAD. I'd spend longer in the truck/on the bike getting over there and back then I did flying...

Mobile and Bay Minette are no better.

The quality of instruction at Eglin was great.

OF COURSE. It would move to Pensacola right after I finish IFS.

This would make a great entry on fmylife.com

"I would burn a half tank of gas doing a round trip from Pensacola to Bay Minette for IFS every day. Now two years later, they're moving Skywarriors down to Pensacola. FML"
