I like the version from a different news service...

The cockpit of the Airbus A320 was reportedly left unmanned during the scuffle and at one point a pilot allegedly threatened to land Flight IC-844, in Pakistan, which it was flying over.

That's quite a threat. Something or someone pissed off the pilot in a huge way. Those boys and girls don't like Paki's... at all.

Classic.

That's kinda similar in the sense of what happened to us while tryin' to get into Taipei (TPE) 'a while back' w/ the WX @ WOXOF ...

While holding ... circling ... holding ... circling ... we considered a couple of BINGO's ... one of them being suggested by Dispatch was
Foochow(or whatever the fuck it's called today; not too sure I care ... :)) ... Foochow = a place my Aussie' GrandPa sailed @ for 'real' @ 100 years ago ... and we passed this information along to the cabin crew, for their information ...

What happened as a result of this 'sharing' of information??

We had several ... @ 6-8 of the TPE girls come up to the cockpit and BEG us not to go into Mainland China ... and I mean they were sayin' 'PLEASE, PLEASE' ... and that's as in Communist China (*in spite of what some of the more revisionist, 'enlightened' AirWarriors members who are, in reality, clueless, may think about Communist China*) ... in reality (there's that word again) -- it would have presented a most serious problem for them.

They were absolutely TERRIFIED of going into the 'Workers' Paradise' ... as they would have hell to pay getting out. We decided Communist China was not an option and passed this concern along to Company Dispatch, and, as usual, they left it up to us for the final decision ...

As a result, we BINGO'd early since we weren't gonna get into TPE or KHH and HKG was goin' down as well .... so we went to Manila ... and had a most satisfactory 2-day MNL layover as a result.

Obviously ... the TPE stews were most grateful ... ???
'sheh-sheh', or xie-xie, or ... ??? :)

And I'm confident you were your usual gracious self as you accepted their "gratitude"... :D

The story reminds me of a two ship mining det from Cubi to Naha (to carry old training mines to the mine shop in Naha), pick up fresh ones, RON, and drop them on our way back into Cubi. Our crew was first out, the other crew was delayed when they almost ran over the ground director as he was putting the ICS headset back in the nose wheelwell. The PPC and 2P got into a handslapping episode over the power levers, (which is the reminder part of the story). We had our fresh mines loaded and were on the way to some libs when we were called back to the flight line. Turns out they had read the loadout sheet backwards and had loaded their mines 180 out. They wanted us to help them download and reload. Their PPC was senior to ours so we had no choice.

The next day we flew back to Cubi and dropped our mines on the mining range there. Our crew, 100% in the box, the other guys, 0%. The Skipper was not happy.

Ahh, the airborne equivalent of "don't make me stop this plane" :D

The Indian crew fight would have been intersting to watch...to say the least.

.... A case study in assertiveness.
ACTUALLY ... while still flyin' as F/O ... one of my CAPT's and one of the lead STEWs squared off over some kine' dispute @ door 1L ... she weighed @ 100# soakin' wet ... he was a 'polo player' from La Jolla ...

Assertiveness personified on the part of both parties.

.... And I think it would have been a fair fight. :D
