Good evening,
Active duty Navy applicant here 7 years. Tried searching and didn't find the answer to this question answered. The two chances I will have to apply for OCD before age critical status and having my degree are for the Supply Board in August 2017 and the SWO Board in October 2017 due to hitting 31 years of age June 2018.
My question is due to the fact that I will have just have recently arrived at a brand new command with intention of submitting an Officer application right away, can the CO not endorse my package for the reason that I just arrived at the command and not wanting to have a gapped billet with me leaving the command for OCS? NPC emailed me back on this saying my command wouldn't be able to request a replacement until I was transferred as a loss. (Not ahead of time to "prepare" for me leaving.) I would be able to serve at that new command for 9 months if he gave me the latest "date available for OCS" of the March 2017
timeframe to leave enough time to commission before 31 June 2nd,2018.
My current Chief is under the impression it should be recommended because when Officers lead/reccomend enlisted to become an Officer it looks good on their FITREP.
I ask simply because I am about to put a lot into finishing this degree and getting letters of recommendation, ASTB, etc and am just trying to prepare my mind for the realistic answer that the process may be halted before it's started due to this, and wanted to know if anyone has heard of a CO denying someone for this reason alone. (FYI: I am within 90 days of PRD upon returning from this IA deployment so have to wait until the next command.)
Thank you for your responses!!
