International Paper Mill...Franklin, VA

So...anyone who flys helos in Va Beach/Norfolk knows where the airfield around Franklin is...it's the one next to the stinky ass paper mill...the stinky ass paper mill that just shut down and left 1100 people jobless (pretty much the entire city of Franklin).

Anyway, since no one in NC or VA wants an OLF anywhere, and we use the damn thing all the time anyway, why doesn't the Navy buy the Franklin airfield and then hire the city to run fuel pits/crash crew/maintenance, etc??? No one will complain about the field if they need it to sustain the economy?

"We" being helicopter pilots. No one is looking to build a helo OLF - they're looking for a replacement/augment to Fentress, which comes with its own set of boogeymen.
